Del Mar, CA – October 28, 2015 - The team at Wyndmont Inc. had a successful month of competition under trainers Ronnie Beard and Michael Dorman in California at the Del Mar International Welcome Week, the Del Mar International World Cup Week and the Del Mar International Horsepark. Riders Matt Williams and Nicole Loochtan produced consistent results week after week proving they are in top form for the upcoming fall and winter circuits.
At the Del Mar International Welcome Week, held October 7-11, 2015, Matt Williams showed great consistency with ribbons in the 1.30m and 1.35m Open Jumpers on Wyndmont Inc.’s own Zaldorado and Cas, and in the 1.20m Open Jumpers aboard Win Vision, owned by Sarah Scarnechia. Nicole Loochtan had top results with her horses in the 1.30m Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers with Willem, and in the 1.10m Open Jumpers and 1.20m Modified Junior/Amateur Jumpers on Hamilton Boy DW. Christi Israel also took home honors with her horses, Clouseau and Bull Run’s Zino Platinum, in the 1.30m Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers and the 1.35m Open Jumpers.
Next up was the Del Mar International World Cup Week held October 14-18, 2015. Williams received ribbons aboard Wyndmont Inc. horses in the 1.30m Open Jumpers with Cas, the 1.40m Open Jumpers with Elixir ST, the 1.35m Open Jumpers with Zephyr and on Sarah Scarnechia’s Win Vision in the 1.20m Open Jumpers. He also successfully piloted Wyndmont Inc.’s Valinski S in the $150,000 Longines FEI World CupTMJumping Del Mar, finishing eleventh in a world-class field of athletes.
Loochtan also had another good week of competition bringing home ribbons in the 1.30m Low Junior/Amateur Jumpers on her own Hamilton Boy DW. In addition, Israel continued to post top results in the 1.30m Open Jumpers with Clouseau, 1.35m Open Jumpers with Bull Run’s Zino Platinum and the 1.40m Open Jumpers with her own, Cracky Z. She also finished fourth in the Junior/Amateur Speed Challenge aboard Bull Run’s Zino Platinum and won the 1.30m Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic aboard Clouseau.
“We decided to come here because they had two World Cup Qualifiers at Del Mar, and there is a CSI5* at Thermal,” explained Beard. “Del Mar had a real international flavor to it, and we felt it would be good for our horses to get in that mix. They did very, very well. At Del Mar, we were competing against some of the best riders in the world. Being able to compete at that level raised the bar quite a bit, and I think it’s going to pay off in the future for these horses.”
The Wyndmont Inc. team topped off October competition in Del Mar with their best week of the month at the Del Mar International Horsepark on October 22-25, 2015. Matt Williams, once again, was on fire aboard Wyndmont Inc. mounts with results in the 1.20m and 1.30m Open Jumpers with Zaldorado, Quality DB, Cuchica and Cas, and in the 1.35m Open Jumpers with Quality DB and Cas.
“We did two weeks at Del Mar and then we went to Showpark where they were having a small show on the grass,” said Beard. “We have some young horses that have never shown on a grass grand prix field before, so we showed them there and were very successful. It was a nice experience for those horses.”
Wyndmont Inc. would also like to congratulate Chase Fine and trainer Diane Grod on the purchase of Quality DB, a 7-year-old Holsteiner gelding recently imported from Europe.
The horses and riders of Wyndmont Inc. will continue with their fall competition schedule at the HITS Thermal Desert Circuit National Sunshine Series and the Las Vegas National Horse Show.
